Get your team covered.
Start with the steps below, or email ternlyteam@gmail.com. Include your workspace name and what you were trying to do. Never send passwords, installation tokens, payment card numbers, or API keys.
Install and create your first rotation
- Use a paid Slack workspace and an account with permission to manage user groups. Add Ternly to Slack and approve the requested permissions.
- Open Ternly in Slack, choose New rotation, and name the rotation.
- Select a dedicated user group or create one in the form. Ternly will replace that group’s members with the person currently on call.
- Choose participants in rotation order, the timezone, first handoff and interval. Review the upcoming shifts, then save.
The web calendar offers another way to manage the same schedules. Use /ternly in Slack to see who is on call.
Reach the person on call
Type your dedicated group’s handle, such as @dev-on-call, and select it from Slack’s mention picker. Ternly updates the group’s membership to the scheduled person. To look up who is responsible without sending a group mention, use /ternly or /ternly dev-on-call.
Follow the Slack on-call rotation setup guide for timing, permissions and verification, or see the planned pricing and trial details.
Arrange temporary cover
Choose Arrange cover on Ternly’s Home tab. Select the person and time range, then review who takes over and who resumes. Administrators can arrange cover for others; rotation participants can volunteer themselves. The underlying rotation continues during cover.
When a rotation needs attention
- For handoff announcements, invite Ternly into the selected public channel. A failed announcement retries automatically after the bot is invited.
- If group updates are denied, check the installer’s permission to manage Slack user groups. Reconnect with a workspace administrator if needed.
- Use Refresh to inspect the last confirmed sync. Scheduled work runs about once a minute; provider failures can delay it. Contact support if the status stays overdue.
Trial, billing and removal
New workspaces receive a 14-day no-card trial. Public paid checkout is not open yet. A trial does not automatically charge you. When billing is available, workspace administrators can manage subscriptions from Plans & billing.
Pause stops future updates and leaves the group’s current membership in place. Removing a rotation keeps the Slack group. Uninstalling Ternly deletes its schedules and access tokens when Slack delivers the uninstall event; it does not cancel a subscription. Cancel through Plans & billing before uninstalling, or contact support afterward.
