Set the rotation
Pick your team, a Slack user group, and a daily or weekly handoff. Preview who is up next.
Keep your @on-call group pointed at the scheduled teammate. Set daily or weekly rotations, arrange temporary cover, and manage handoffs without leaving Slack.
One mention. Always the right teammate.
@Alex Morgan is now on call for @dev-on-call.
Pick your team, a Slack user group, and a daily or weekly handoff. Preview who is up next.
Add temporary coverage for time off. The regular rotation resumes when the override ends.
Keep your @on-call group current and announce handoffs in the channel your team already uses.
Ternly updates the members of a dedicated Slack user group to the scheduled person. Select that group when you type @dev-on-call in Slack. A daily rotation follows the handoff time and timezone you choose; it does not have to change at midnight.
Create and edit rotations, create a user group, preview upcoming shifts, arrange temporary cover, pause or remove a rotation from Ternly’s Home tab. The web calendar shows the same schedules.
Yes. Slack user groups require paid Slack and permission to manage groups. Ternly’s subscription is separate. New workspaces get a 14-day no-card trial; paid checkout is not open yet.
Add a temporary coverage window and review who takes over and who resumes. The underlying rotation keeps running. Ternly rejects overlapping coverage instead of silently choosing one.
The scheduler checks about once a minute and shows the last confirmed Slack update. Provider failures can delay delivery. Ternly schedules responsibility; it is not an emergency paging or escalation service.
This version supports one primary person, rotations every 1–90 calendar days, and finite coverage overrides. Business-hours restrictions, multiple simultaneous owners, calendar subscriptions and personal reminders are not available yet.
Install Ternly for your engineering or support team. Set up your first rotation in Slack, then use the calendar whenever you want the bigger picture.
Start a 14-day trial without a card. Paid checkout is not open yet, and your trial never converts into a charge automatically. Slack group rotation requires a paid Slack workspace and permission to manage user groups.
